There is something about the energy in Essaouira, watching the birds fly overhead while you’re sitting on the sunny rooftop of a ryad, and realizing life doesn’t have to feel complicated. You and your life get to be as effortless as a bird spreading its wings to fly. It’s the simple moments sipping Moroccan mint tea with a sugar cube and a pastry from the patisserie that reminds you all the difficult moments were preparing you for this special moment.

CANCELLATION POLICY
A retainer of $475 is non-refundable (but transferrable prior to 6 weeks before the retreat) in the event of a cancellation.
If the retreat is cancelled by the host, you will be fully refunded.

Host
Alexia has been hosting AUTHENTIC retreats - providing a local, non-touristic experience in a new place - since 2022.
As an avid traveller and nomad, Alexia LOVES immersing herself in a new place, challenging her comfort zone, and making friends with locals who can show her the secret gems, and feeling the true HEARTBEAT and culture of each place she visits. It has grown her confidence and shown her new sides of herself that she could never access in her daily norms.
It is her greatest pleasure to provide these unique transformative experiences that give your soul the reset it needs, with the spirit of being hosted by a close friend in a supportive, intimate group of people.
Alexia first became enamored with Morocco when she visited in 2023. She went on a whim, post-breakup, deciding to finally learn how to surf (something she had been “meaning to do” for years), and deepen her understanding of herself.
Not only has surfing helped her build patience, persistence, and feel really proud of herself, it reminded her that some of our deepest developments are done by actually LIVING life boldly and consistently putting yourself out of your comfort zone.
Alexia has returned to Morocco multiple times to experience the unique culture, cuisine, and calm lifestyle, as well as deepen her new craft. She feels Morocco is her inner “artist’s retreat”, and upon working more with her cohost, Larbi, she admired his keen way of teaching, making her feel comfortable in something completely new and unknown, and his commitment to hosting his clients WELL in his country.
When he proposed the idea of a retreat, she couldn’t resist the opportunity to share the experience with her clients!

Host
Larbi is born and raised in Essaouira, Morocco. He has traveled across Europe and Asia, enjoys playing the guitar and saxophone, playing chess, and cooking traditional Moroccan cuisine.
He has loved and developed his own surfing skills since childhood. After studying engineering in France and feeling uninspired by working a corporate job, he decided to dive into his passion instead, and has been teaching surfing throughout Morocco for a decade.
He regularly hosts visitors from all over the world and leads them on various excursions for a well-rounded, and expert experience. People come from the US, Australia, Latvia, Germany, the UK, Portugal, and beyond, which speaks to his craft, expertise, and warm, approachable teaching methods.
One of many of Larbi’s strengths is his ability to connect with his students and make them feel at home, confident and comfortable. He is thrilled to be partnering with Alexia to bring you a truly unique and distinct experience!

How exciting! This is absolutely fine. Alexia, much like you had never touched a surfboard in her life, and she felt SO comfortable with Larbi’s instructions.
Additionally, Alexia teaches yoga in tiers. The practice will meet you exactly where you are, and if you have any issues, she will be there to help you find a solution.
Keep in mind: this is YOUR retreat. Surf lessons and yoga are included, yet 100% optional :)

Morocco is a generally safe country. Especially in Essaouira where we will be the majority of the retreat. While there is no dress code for women who are not Muslim and simply traveling as tourists, you may consider having a wrap to cover your shoulders, and wearing more flowy attire, and longer pants and skirts. However, you will also see other tourist women wearing shorter dresses and shorts, especially at the beach.
Bare in mind, the time of year we will be visiting, the nights get chilly, so a jacket and pants will likely be necessary anyway :)

There is an airport in Essaouira, it’s very small and may be more difficult to find flights there. The closest airport is Marrakech, or Agadir. We will be providing transport from the Marrakech airport by grand taxi at a specific date and time (provided closer to the date and after registration) if that helps you make your decision.
Either airport you decide, and whenever you arrive, however, we can help you with a reliable and safe private transfer or taxi, however, the cost will be your responsibility :)
*Additionally: be sure to check if you need a visa to enter Morocco depending on which country you are coming from :)

With Morocco’s distinct history and culture, you will hear a mix of the Moroccan dialect of Arabic, Arabic, French, and of course, almost everyone speaks English as well :)
